Naotora Ii playable in DOA5 Ultimate Arcade, moveset and backstory revealed

Like the other additional characters that were added to Dead or Alive 5, starting with Marie Rose, Naotora Ii has been added to Japan’s Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate: Arcade roster ahead of retail versions of the game. Detailed on the Japanese website are her moveset and backstory. Of course, everything is in Japanese. So, unless you’re one of those people that sits at the cool kid’s table, you can’t read it!

Thankfully, the people at Dead or Alive Wiki have provided an English translation for her backstory:

Dragged into a mysterious portal by-way-of a Victor Donovan’s M.I.S.T. time-travelling experiment, the ruler of Japan’s Warring States era Ii Clan, Naotora Ii, emerges and stranded in present-day next to a competitor of the DEAD OR ALIVE fighting tournament. Given no other choice but to fight for her life, and keeping her family motto of ‘once on the battlefield, one must face the enemy head on’ in mind, a determined Naotora sets out to emerge victorious from this strange new challenge.

Time travel. Would you expect anything different? She’s from a completely different era; how else would she get there? Makes sense to me. But what you may find more important than how she got there is how she’ll play. Shown below are a list of her combos:

As anyone who is familiar with the character in Samurai Warriors would expect, most of her combos consist of kicks. However, unlike in Samurai Warriors, she actually has punches. It’s doubtful they could have implemented a character with no punches, so she does have a few. Naotora Ii is still set to release in March on retail versions. Pricing details have not yet been announced.
